Wines, Whales & Views
Hermanus Wine Route offers the chance to savour world-renowned Pinot noirs and Chardonnays in a heavenly setting not far from where whales frolic in the Atlantic Ocean for a few months every year. Cool-climate expressions of Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz form part of the collection on offer and innovative blends satisfy all palates.
The route, situated within the Walker Bay wine district, unites wineries with a reputation for exceptional quality, small production and a maritime character. Vineyards are uniquely positioned to benefit from high elevation with cool sea breezes with the majority of the wineries situated within three wine wards winding up the R320 or Hemel-en-Aarde road: Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley and Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge.
