Culinary capital of South Africa
Franschhoek, in the Western Cape, is a valley surrounded by vineyards that is regarded as one of the most beautiful in the world.
Known as the culinary capital of South Africa, Franschhoek is home to internationally acclaimed restaurants and wine cellars producing award-winning wines. Leading chefs create everything from cutting-edge cuisine to stylish light meals using the freshest produce of the valley paired with magnificent local wines. Be sure to include the Franschhoek Wine Valley Food & Wine Route and the Franschhoek Artisan Food Route as part of your journey of discovery.
The 49 members of the Franschhoek Wine Valley produce all the classic varieties, ranging from plump reds to elegant whites and delicious sparkling wines, or Méthode Cap Classique. Visitors to the valley can also experience the Franschhoek Cap Classique Route, the only Cap Classique Wine Route in South Africa. More than half the wineries in the Franschhoek Wine Valley produce MCC wines. This, together with the annual Franschhoek Cap Classique and Champagne Festival, makes this the premier destination for Méthode Cap Classique wines in the Cape Winelands.
Please join us in celebrating our annual festivals – Franschhoek Summer Wines in February, The Winter Sculpture Fair in May, Cook Franschhoek and Franschhoek Winter Wines in June, the Franschhoek Bastille Festival in July, the Franschhoek Uncorked Festival in September, and the celebrated Cap Classique and Champagne Festival in December.
